WIRED AND WIRELESS NETWORKING
Do you need more than just a wireless connection?
The answer is probably yes if you do more than surf the web with a laptop. You may just need to boost your signal if you are experiencing connectivity problems with your wireless devices. Most homes can maximize internet connectivity with a combination of wired and wireless technologies.
- Do you have multiple computers in your home?
- Share equipment and content such as printers, storage devices, music, movies, and pictures?
- Stream content from Netflix, Hulu, and your satellite or cable provider?
If you have a house under construction, consider installing structured wiring (CAT 5 or 6) in strategic locations of your house. For existing homes, K & S AVS has solutions to extend your wired connection using existing wiring, or other devices.
Let K & S AVS perform an internet connectivity test in your home to identify high and low spots, and recommend a wired and wireless plan.
Do you stream movies over an internet connection?
Internet speed requirements range from 2 Mbps for standard definition to 4.5 to 9 Mbps for the best audio and video experience. 3D requires over 9 Mbps.
A high speed broadband connection is required for the best video and audio experience.
The connection from a network media player to your home network must also be fast. If you test your speed at the device and it is significantly lower than your internet speed plan, the problem could be in how you connect from the device to your home network router.
Connecting to your home network wirelessly can often be slower than connecting directly using a wired CAT5 or CAT6 Ethernet connection.
Whether you choose to stream audio or video over a wired or wireless internet connection, K & S AVS can assist you. From planning your network needs to connecting your network devices, K & S AVS aims to make your entertainment experience pleasurable.

Hot Technologies
Just as the Internet revolutionized how the world accessed information through the 1990's, the ongoing development will continue to cause fundamental changes to how our world operates. Some trends shaping the future of the Internet are summarized below:
Cloud-Based Services - On October 4, 2011 Apple announced its' iCloud service, a set of free cloud services, including iTunes in the Cloud, Photo Stream and Documents in the Cloud, that work seamlessly with your iPhone and iPad
Alternative Input Devices - Is it finally time for voice control? People have gotten over their self- consciousness of seemingly speaking to the air. And while voice recognition has been around for some time, Apple's Siri on their 4S phone actually works. This will open the door to many other applications.
In a Consumer Electronics survey, lighting control was voted the one that would most benefit from alternative input options.
Another interesting development is NFC (near field communications). NFC gained visibility in 2011 with the launch of Google Wallet and other mobile payment platforms. Now NFC is being used for other applications, such as holding your cellphone to a door lock to unlatch it.
